Autumn plans at Lower Barns
With the swallows gone, leaves falling from the trees and the warm autumn breeze upon us, I have to say, I love September days as Cornwall starts to breath from the chaos of the summer traffic. Though we are still busy it just feels more peaceful.
It’s been a wonderful year for us and our guests at Lower Barns, with everyone lovin’ Nook and Cranny. The weather has completely excelled. Days out in Cornwall have taken my breath away with what this little county has to offer people.
My new website (Lower Barns) is looking totally fabulous, (even though I say so myself) thanks to Leap Media in St Austell. If anyone needs a new website these guys are just the best.
Our Plans For 2015
Just like the seasons my mind never stops planning for next year! ( “Oh no!” says Mike). We have now been creating Lower Barns for over 23 years and for the first time actually feel that we can see round the corner. It’s been an amazing adventure for us to build and create and keep listening to feedback from our guests, to travel and feel inspired.
With Mike putting himself in hospital last year we are now planning that he can work on smaller projects and oversee some of the bigger stuff.
We have plasterers in at the moment finishing the walls in Nooks courtyard. The sauna won’t be too far off. The garden is having a bit of a makeover; I just love having my hands in soil. However, one of the things I love the most is reinventing the rooms, and I have great plans for the main house with new colours, accessories and furniture. My mind buzzes with the images of all the amazing colours I can mix and match.
Lower Barns did it’s romantic best this year, when my brother-in-law and Louise (our wonderful cleaner) were married here. Like Cinderella, she found her Price Charming and it really is a happy ending. Mike is now building our outside wedding room, which is set to be funky, just like everything he makes. And we will keep you posted with updates.
All of this makes us so excited about the winter months, to be planning and building and creating a new feel to this little gem of a place that we just love to share with so many magical people.
We hope you enjoy the story so far. We thank you all of your comments and support and look forward to seeing you soon.
As they say “follow your dreams, they know the way….”
Bye bye for now
