Here are some of the things the Press say about us…..
Telegraph Magazine, 13/7/13 ‘Four of the best Cornish B&B’s’ “Janie is an excellent cook and people rave about the breakfasts”….
“Lower Barns St Austell, only a mile from the amazing Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lower Barns is a colourful, bohemian five-bedroomed B&B lovingly forged from an old barn and a couple of other buildings by its charming owners, Janie and Mike Cooksley. Interior design is heavily influenced by the couple’s extensive travels in South America, and each room is completely different – one has its own conservatory, another is tucked away in a beach hut in the garden, and a third is spread over two floors, so ideal for families. Two further rooms, away from the rest, Nook and Cranny, are currently being completed. Janie is an excellent cook and people rave about the breakfasts (smoked haddock, sausages from nearly Calenick Farm, free-range eggs), which are served around a big table in the conservatory. Janie also cooks dinner on request (vegetarian paella, ribeye steak, sticky toffee pudding), serving it in the tin-roofed Shack, a freestanding room in the garden with an open fire. There’s also a treatment room and a tepee for massages, and an outdoor hot tub. The details Doubles from £75 (01726 844881; bosue.co.uk).”
The Guardian online, included us in their Top 10 Hotels and B&Bs in South Cornwall, adding that we are “all nicely furnished and zinging with colour”. http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2012/mar/14/top-10-hotels-south-cornwall
The Sunday Times included us in their feature “Splendid Isolation Right Here at Home” in November 2013. This is among some of the lovely things they wrote “Don’t forget to stock up on booze before you go – it’s BYO, with no corkage charge, in the Shack, Lower Barns’ restaurant, where they’ll cook up a feast to enjoy next to the open fire”.
Coast Magazine wrote a lovely article about us in May 2014 called “Best B&B” they said the sunsets over the valley are spectacular particularly from the hot tub”.
Cornwall Today wrote a lovely 3 page spread in May 2014 called “True Colours”. One of the quotes was: “We wanted to come up with something really quite different that was romantic, quirky and unlike anything we’d seen before”.
