With the famous chefs Rick Stein, Nathan Outlaw and Andy Appleton from Jamie’s fifteen all doing their bit to promote the seafood of Cornwall, it is something of a foodie mecca down here. In the 90s, when Lower Barns being the luxury, boutique accommodation in Cornwall was still mostly a dream, only the big name chefs attracted tourists, who preferred Padstow as a foodie destination.

These days, amazing food can be found all over Cornwall. The fishermen in Mevagissey haul in excellent seafood day and night, and we know local butchers too. This means we can be sure to get the freshest vegetables and good cuts of meat, to produce high quality meals, served either in the comfort of your Cornwall boutique B&B room, or in The Shack.

In neighbouring St. Ewe, we have some of the best eggs in Cornwall. So whether it’s a slow relaxed breakfast in bed, or a longer evening meal in the comfortable and cosy Shack, we use only the freshest and finest ingredients to ensure you are well fed when you come to Lower Barns. All of the walking of the Cornish cliff path will leave you tired and hungry, so we endeavour to provide seasonal food, using local produce.

Of course, the quality doesn’t stop at seafood. The moorland and forestry making up parts of rural Cornwall is home to cattle and pig farms, meaning the meat is high quality too. We do not serve evening meals every night, as we know that in the surrounding towns and villages; our guests like to explore the restaurants, cafes and pubs who give Cornwall such a reputation as a foodie haven.
